Launching or
inaugurating projects worth more than ₹550 crore in Varanasi, Mr. Modi said that though the constituency
had given him the post of PM, he was still accountable to the people as their
public representative. “As a people’s representative, as your sevak, you are my
master, my high command...it is my duty to provide you an account of the money
and time spent,” Mr. Modi said.
Listing the
works done by him since 2014, he said modern facilities would be provided
without disturbing the city’s identity, tradition and ancient culture.
Addressing a
gathering at the BHU amphitheatre, Mr. Modi said that since he came to power
the change in the life, infrastructure and beautification of the city was there
for all to see.
“Four years
ago, when the people of Kashi resolved to walk the path of change, the change,
then and now, can be clearly seen,” said Mr. Modi, adding that the city earlier
was at the mercy of Lord Shiva. It was “entangled in its poor infrastructure,
just like the overhead electric cables,” said the PM.
With the path
of Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas, it is setting its own future, said Mr. Modi,
promising the city that many infrastructural projects would be completed in the
coming months.
Among the
projects launched on the day were the Atal Incubation Centre at BHU, the
Integrated Power Development Scheme for old Kashi and the Regional
Ophthalmology Centre, also at BHU.
