Activist-turned-politician Arvind Kejriwal will take oath as
Delhi’s seventh Chief Minister on Saturday at historic Ramlila Maidan here,
capping his party’s stunning electoral debut in the December 4 assembly polls.
The date for the swearing-in ceremony was finalised at a meeting
Mr. Kejriwal held with Chief Secretary D.M. Spolia.
Top officials in Delhi Government said Mr. Kejriwal and six AAP
MLAs will be sworn-in in a public ceremony at 12 pm in the Ramlila Maidan, the
venue of Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption movement two years ago.
The cabinet ministers to take oath along with Mr. Kejriwal are
Manish Sisodia, Rakhi Birla, Somnath Bharti, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Girish Soni and
Satendra Jain.

Sources in AAP said Anna Hazare, Kiran Bedi, Santosh Hegde and
all those associated with the anti—corruption movement will be invited to the
swearing-in ceremony.

President Pranab Mukherjee has accepted Delhi Lt Governor Najeeb
Jung’s proposal on government formation by AAP. With the Home Ministry sending
the President’s communication to the Lt. Governor, it is upto Mr. Jung to
decide the date of swearing-in after holding consultation with Mr. Kejriwal.
“The Ministry of Home Affairs has sent President’s communication
to the Lt Governor regarding formation of government by Arvind Kejriwal,” the
sources told PTI.
They said the Home Minister signed the file on Tuesday night and
sent it to Lt Governor on Wednesday morning.
“The LG is empowered to exercise his power as representative of
President of India and decide date and place of oath ceremony in consultation
with the Chief Minister designate,” they said.
