More on that Nadal injury scare from AP - or from Nadal's Facebook page if that's your thing.
Top seed Rafael Nadal was heading back to the practise court on Tuesday after getting the all-clear after a scan on the left heel injury he suffered during a fourth-round win at Wimbledon.
The world number one posted the news on his Facebook page, meaning he will be ready to go for Wednesday’s quarter-final against American Mardy Fish.
“Yesterday after the match I went to take an MRI at a London hospital,” he said on his page. “During the match I thought I had something serious but as the match went through the pain got better.
“Thankfully the tests don’t show an injury. Today I will practice at 4:30 pm and I’ll play tomorrow.
Thanks all for the support.” Nadal had the injury scare late in the first set of his match against Argentine Juan Martin del Potro on Monday. He underwent treatment on court before playing on for a four-set victory, but said later he was not sure of what nature the injury was.
The centre court roof has finally been shut. Play will start in sometime. But court No. 1, where Kvitova and Pironkova will be first up, does not have such luxuries as an overhead roof and will remain unplayable until the rain abates.
Apparently, the centre court roof is still open. Obviously I was a little over enthusiastic willing myself for play to begin. As the roof takes quite some time to close, start of play might be delayed by a few minutes.
17:20 - Can indeed confirm that it's chucking it down on SW19 at the moment
.
In other news, Rafael Nadal, who did his ankle during the game against Juan Martin del Potro on Monday, has been cleared of any injury after an MRI scan showed that he did not do any extensive damage.
17:15 - There are strong rains coming into the All England club but that should just be a footnote because the centre court is already covered under the roof.
This is the order of play for the day
.
There were shocks and then there were shocks. It’s been a bit of a trend these days that the women’s No. 1 don’t win the Grand Slam. Current world no.1 Caroline Wozniacki continued that trend by being knocked out. Many of us would have been familiar with the Williams sisters playing against each other in the women's summit clash at the All England Championships. But guess what? Both of them have been knocked out even before the quarterfinals stage. This is the first since 2006 that, that has happened.
