Was film star's son among those rounded up at rave party?
NAVI MUMBAI: Inspector Anil Jadhav of the anti-narcotics cell claimed that he was on a police operation at Khalapur. He even displayed an sms about the party from his informer to the raiding police, Jadhav's lawyer said.
When asked if Jadhav could have been there on an undercover assignment, Raigad SP RD Shinde said, "If he was carrying out an undercover operation, Jadhav should have notified the Raigad police, or at least his superiors at the anti-narcotics cell. Further investigations are on to find out his antecedents."
"A total of 307 youngsters were detained at the party. Later, 302 of them were allowed to go after the mandatory medical test. These include 63 girls," said a senior official of the Raigad police. The seized drugs included 2.5 kg of ganja, around 450 milligram (mg) of cocaine and more than 300 millilitre (ml) of what is popularly known as 'liquid drops', an expensive narcotic substance consumed by mixing it in sugar cubes.
While it is learnt that the son of a film star was also among those rounded up at the party, the Raigad police did not confirm it to the media. I S Patil, senior inspector of Khalapur police station, told TOI: "One of the detained boys did state that his name is Sakshi Khanna. However, we still have to investigate and confirm if he is really the son of film star Vinod Khanna."
The other four accused include Ghule; hotel manager Rahul Khanna; Kushan S Kumar; and Snehajit Sajalkar alias Biltu, the co-organizer who runs an event management company called 'Beyond Logic'.
The organizers had apparently advertised the June 26 rave party at Khalapur on a social networking website and charged an entry fee of Rs 1,000 per head. Shinde added that most of the partygoers were visibly under the influence of drugs when the police raided the resort a little after 7.30 pm.
